SHOULD ANIMALS BE KEPT IN CAGES?

I think that animals shouldn’t be kept in cages because they will go crazy and they should be free. They won’t have much space to live in and to explore their environment. Animals belong in the wild.

I think one reason that animals shouldn’t be kept in cages is because they will go crazy. If animals are kept in cages it’s not fair on them and they should be free. Some people catch animals and sell them to other countries for money which is very cruel.

Another reason animals shouldn’t be kept in cages is because they won’t have much space to live in and to explore their environment. Some people also catch animals to do experiments on them which is also cruel to animals and it hurts them a lot too. Like humans animals have rights.

Animals shouldn’t be kept in cages because animals they belong in the wild. Animals should be free in the wild because HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU WERE TAKEN AWAY FROM YOUR HOME OR ENVIRONMENT AND AWAY FROM YOUR FAMILY? I would feel very sad so that’s why animals deserve to be free out in the wild otherwise it won’t be so fair WILL IT?

Now I hope and I’m sure that you believe that animals shouldn’t be kept in cages either because they wouldn’t be free. They will be kept away from their family’s and home and they wouldn’t be able to explore the world.

SHOULD STUDENTS HAVE HOME-WORK?

I think that students should have home-work at school because it helps in learning. It makes parents proud and it keeps children off the computers.

I think that students should have home-work at school because it helps in learning. If students don’t have home-work they won’t be clever when they grow up. If their not clever enough when they grow up they won’t have good jobs and then they won’t have any money.

I think that students should have home-work at school because it makes their parents proud. If it doesn’t make parents proud parents will start getting angry or shocked because they might have thought that their kids were really sensible at learning. Then it could make the kids worry as well.

I think that students should have home-work at school because it keeps them off the computers. If there is home-work children will have at least something good and interesting to do other then Computers , T.V , PS:1/2/3 , Wii and Nintendo D.S. If children keep doing those things their eyes will start to hurt. If their eyes start to hurt they will have to wear glasses and WHO WANTS TO DO THAT?

Now I trust that you too think that students should have home-work at school because it makes kids clever. It makes parents proud of their children’s work and it keeps children from getting too lazy all the time.

I think that junk food should be banned from school canteens because it can rot your teeth. It’s unhealthy and because people have allergies.

I think that junk food should be banned from school canteens because it can rot your teeth. If kids eat too much sugar they will get rotten teeth causing them to hurt and digest. Then they will have to go to the dentist all the time and WHO WANTS TO DO THAT?

I think that junk food should be banned from school canteens because it’s very unhealthy. When kids eat too much sugar it gets unhealthy and because children’s bones aren’t as strong as adults the calcium can go down easily which isn’t very healthy at all. Then they will have to keep going to the dentist and get getting teeth pulled out which is very painful.

I think that junk food should be banned from school canteens because lots of people have different allergies. If canteens sell junk food with-out telling whats in them the people who have allergies will get really sick if they eat something that their allergic to with-out even knowing that their eating it. Example: People who are allergic to sugar will run out of calcium if they eat too much sugar which will make their bones more weak than they already are.

Now I believe that you too think that junk food should be banned from school canteens because children will have to keep going to the dentist. If nobody knows that THE GRANGE kids actually go to THE GRANGE people will start to think that THE GRANGE is a bad school.
AFL vs Soccer

AFL, as a sport has been around for over 150 years. It was created by the Melbourne Scotch Collage Cricket Team in 1847. The purpose of the sport was to keep the men that played cricket fit in the cold winter months. The first game played was on a field 1.6 kilometres long and 1kilometre wide. There were 36 players on each side. The football was as big as a watermelon and was made of thick, rough cow skin stitched together and inflated with air. The Melbourne Scotch Collage 0.0.00 went down to Melbourne Gramma 0.6.06.

AFL is a very competitive sport. At the moment, there are over 257 players in 10 teams. All these players require a good sportsmanship and understanding for all the rules of the game.

Since 1847 many of the rules have changed. The felid is smaller, the ball is the size of less than half a watermelon, there are only 18 players per team on the field at a time, the scores are much larger e.g. 12.14.94 to 26.10.166.

Report on AFL Finals

Finally the Toyota AFL 1st Elimination round is here. Eight teams left and all fighting for the flag. After a dangerous year I am realeaved that Collingwood has made into the top eight. Now the tension is on, Geelong and St Kilda are starting to lose which leaves the door open for Colingwood and the Bulldogs. Super Tipping reavels that Collingwood have gready eyes on the flag and are most likely to win.
Geelong vs Western Bulldogs

This match is sure to be a Thriller. The Cats Coach Mark Thomsan wrote on their home page “This win was a warm-up for the Finals”. I think this thought will emotionaly and physicaly energize the Geelong players and prepare them for this upcoming match.

Victorious Again !

Melbourne Storms 23-16 win over Parramata was its second from four consecutive grand finals but half back Billy Slater said it was one of the most sweetest moments of his carrier. This was Storms third grand final win since it came into existence in 1998. The Eels fans vastly out numbered Storms at ANZ stadium but coach Craig Bellamy said his players kept their spirits high and were prepared to win.

Bellamy said this was a great win considering last years 40-0 imbarasing grand final loss to Manly. He said the new and unexperienced Storm youngsters played with high expectations and got what they hoped for. Captain Cameron Smith became the first Storm Captain to take part in and win dual premierships. His name has been added to the newly formed Storm hall of fame.

Australia’s Socceroos

Tim Cahill says his match winning goal against Oman on Wednesday nights crucial Asian Cup qualifier was one of his most satisfying goals for the Socceroos. Yet again Tim Cahill was the hero for Australia with his last minute goal to put Australia in front 1-0. Australia’s dreams of winning the 2011 Asian Cup were suddenly put back on track. The match was poorly attended with only 20,595 Socceroos fans but this fact didn’t put an energized Tim Cahill off track. In the 74th minute Chipperfield did some great work down to the left and flicked it to Kennedy who couldn’t score, Kennedy crossed it to Cahill who slid down and shot the winning goal. This goal was Cahills 19th goal from his past 36 appearances. Australia continued on to win the match.

Twilight is about a girl named Isabella Swan who just moved to a new town named Forks. On her first day of school she falls in love with a strange boy named Edward Cullen. Edward turns out to be a vampire who has a lust for Isabella’s blood. The movie is a vampire romance drama. I think Twilight is a fabulous movie and book. I rather the book myself. I give the book 3/5. I give the movie a 3/5 and I am looking forward to the next movie!

And that mind stealer might be Brittany’s only chance to defeat the living dummy. But will that be enough to defeat Slappy once and for all? I love this book. The only bad thing about the book is that it doesn’t have long enough chapters. I give this book a 3/5.

For footy day, lots of people dressed up in the colours of our favourite teams and did a parade on the basketball court. Some of us got sausages and bread, icy-poles and or a drink.
Brr! I hate cold weather. I’m sure glad winter is over and the Grange all celebrated the end of winter together. But guess what it still rains and it is still freezing cold. Oh well summer is coming and I know it will always be hot. Personally I think the day went fabulous. Seeing everyone in his or her pyjamas was really funny and cool. Some people wore clothes that looked like they were going to the snow, and some just looked like they were getting ready for bed. People had their slippers, robes, pyjamas, coats and ugg boots. To make the day even better we even got a special lunch that only cost $4. And with that $4 we could get 2 cookies, a hot chocolate and a sausage sizzle. YUM!

At the lauch, we had ALOT of fun, firstly what happend, is that we spoke our speeches, and some words from lorraine and agelique. Angelique then posted a comment onto our blog to formely launch the zine. After that was all done, we all went into the open space for finger foods and drinks. There were also computers set up onto the zine website, so anyone was able to post a comment. We all had so much fun,

Opinion

Homework What kids had to say …

I think that we should have homework because it can help us with our grades and in the future and not really because it’s actually really boring because you doing the same old same old.

Well, I think that homework can be boring, but sometimes it can be interesting if you are interested in the topic you are doing. So I agree with Alannah that homework can be really boring but sometimes really interesting.

Firstly, I think that we should have homework but just change it a little bit. Like make it more interesting and come up with something creative to do so kids will want to do their homework. Secondly, I think that we shouldn’t have homework because some kids might be really busy and by the time you get home you can’t do it. And then you get into trouble from your teacher for not doing your homework. And homework can be really boring. Also not all homework that you get you can hand in the next day sometimes it’s set out for the every night of the week. Thirdly, I think that we shouldn’t have homework because we have 6 hours of work 5 days a week and that is pretty unfair that we get homework to. Also when we are home it is our time so we can forget about school. So I think that we should have no homework. And fourthly, I think that we should have homework but make it more fun because sometimes it can be really interesting but also really boring. And sometimes homework is really good idea because it can give you something at home.

I like homework because its fun and I can do what I like and when I get asked to read something I get to pick the book I want to read which makes it interesting. Sometimes I get frustrated because I don’t know what to do.

Epals- OZ to USA

Silver room is working on an Epal project that lets students from all over the world communicate with each other by sending safe emails to find out information about, where our epal buddies come from, their background and culture. The purpose of this project is to find out what it is like to live in another country.
Epals has all kinds of projects to do. Silver room has decided to do the project called ‘The Way We Are’. The project’s aim is to have students construct well-written email to their Epal buddy and find out about similarities and differences between our countries and our own lifestyles. Also, students will be able to provide specific examples of what it means to be from a different culture.
Silver room have buddies from America in a town called Bethel in the state Connecticut from a school called R.M Johnson School.
So far some students in Silver room have received their first email from their Epal buddy and we have now commenced our second email which is about a day in our daily lives.
By the time we finish our last email, I am sure most of the students will have formed a friendship with their buddy and continue writing to each other in the future.

So, over the holidays, I watched Monsters VS. Aliens in 3D. Personally, I think it is a great movie for all ages to watch. It has lots of funny bits and has gotten very good movie reviews and rated 4/5 stars! Well, the story is about a lady nicknamed “Ginormica” that gets hit by a comet on her wedding day and gets turned into a giant! Then she gets put into a enclosure full of weird creatures. But she has to do some special jobs. I won’t say anymore because I want you to watch it! Oh yes, I forgot to tell you about the characters, They are Ginormica, B.O.B, Dr. Cockroach, LINK, and insectosaurus.
